Original Sin is a promotions team based in Plymouth in Devon, led by former students of the city. They organise nights out and promotional events, to give people in Plymouth more of a variety where the evening can take them.

With more people looking to Original Sin for their nights out, Original Sin looked to Sound in Theory to design and create a brand for them. The brand would need to reflect their company, whilst help them to stand out in the competitive promotions company market.

Sound in Theory worked with Original Sin to design and create a brand that reflects their company and their vision for its future. This graphic identity would need to establish them as a cool, contemporary company, whilst being recognisable enough to ensure that people remember where to look for their night out. It must also reflect one of Original Sin’s key attributes – fun!

Original Sin is all about having fun – so we ensured the brand icon is too. This icon plays cheekily on their company’s name, featuring the ‘original sin’ biblical reference with a light-hearted modern twist that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Yet the icon is also transferable, simple and professional enough to reflect that people should take Original Sin seriously.

The hand-drawn font we custom designed for Original Sin also invokes this sense of play, with a uniqueness that will help Original Sin to stand out from other promotions. By making the font seem the least gothic we could, it also ensures the branding steers clear of seeming biblical.

A simple black and white colour scheme ensures the whole branding is timeless, classic and can be transferred easily onto any medium, be that fliers, t-shirts or vans.
